Does vitamin E oil fade scars?

Vitamin E on scars or massaging the scar?

  • Does Vitamin E oil/cream help scars fade? I've heard that vitamin E helps them fade, but I've also heard that it doesn't what makes them fade is the massaging of the skin to help blood flow through. Therefore fading the flat white scars. Which is it?

  • Answer:

Actually it is both. Massaging the skin as it heals helps to stimulate the circulation and soften the forming scar. But vitamin E is also useful as it is one of the vitamins essential to the body's repair system. As well as vitamin E cream, though, there are a number of natural vegetable oils that can be just as good if not better for helping scars to heal. These include rose hip oil (which has a long reputation for helping the appearance of scars and wrinkles) and wheatgerm oil ( which is naturally high in vitamin E). To boost the effect of these oils you can also add essential oils at the rate of about 2 drops of essential oil to every teaspoon of vegetable oil. Try lavender, frankincense and immortelle. You can use one or a combination. Bear in mind that any treatment will take time to work.
