Answer:
I believe that you need some sort of a degree whether it be in economics, math, stats, actuarial science etc. The reason for this is that in addition to the qualification exams, you need something called VEE credits in economics, corporate finance, and statistics. These credits can be attained by achieving a certain grade in certain university courses. Once you have attained the credits along with passing the exams, you will likely be able to find employment as an actuary. So unfortunately, I don't think that you could work as an actuary without taking those courses for VEE credit. Perhaps you could work for a year or two and save some money for a degree. The exams can also be difficult and it costs alot just to write it so taking some university courses can really help prepare you for the exams as well. Best of luck! :)

Depends on your connections, and whether you can also teach yourself to spell more correctly, lol. If you know rich business people who would hire you, over two dozen other candidates, sure you can find a job with right connections. Otherwise, anyone doing the hiring will look not only for someone with the license, someone who can pass the SOA exams, but also someone with a College Degree. Why would any smart person want to hire someone to work for you at a great salary, if they haven't proven that they can compete with other smart people at college? If there are 10 candidates, 4 with only high school degrees, 4 with BA degrees and 2 with Master's Degrees, wouldn't the top two candidates for the job be the two with MA's? Higher pay comes with more academic education. In part this is because educated people understand their life and jobs better. They can communicate better, especially in writing, with other college degreed people in their business or local community. A new worker should have the ability to mature, grow and continue their education for rest of their career. If you cannot continue an academic education when young, should they expect you to be able to learn and keep up with new technical skills, after they hire you? Knowing numbers or computation skills isn't enough. You have to be able to understand where those numbers come from and also the people you deal with in life. Education isn't just about earning credits, but also life skills and understandings about other cultures and people. But, good luck with whatever you want to do with your life.

No. There are plenty of college grads to fill these jobs. Go get a lower job where they will pay for your college.
