Moving horse to really cold weather?
-
I am from Northern California, Sacramento area and the winters here at night might get the the coldest being 29 F. I'm moving to Idaho or possibly Montana where it gets below zero. If I take her up there in the summer, will she able to adapt to the freezing weather considering the draft she's been here all her life? If I move to Idaho, she will have a shelter in a small pasture, but not a stall. Will she be able to make it without severe difficulty? Or would it be absolutely necessary to put her in a stall in a barn? My grandpa had his horses and cows out in the pasture when he lived in South Dakota and they stayed out there 24/7, 365 days a year in blizzards and everything, but then again they were born and raised in that weather. Help please!
