What to put in my portfolio?

What should I put in my art portfolio for admission into a Graphic Design major?

  • I'm currently in a community college but i'll be transferring out in a year to Virginia State University. My concentration will be Graphic Design and they ask for a portfolio in the Application. I've never prepared or have been taught about putting together a art portfolio so i'll have to make it from scratch. What should I put in it? Still life drawings? Any kinds of drawings or something else?

  • Answer:

Your graphic design portfolio is a representation of yourself and of your skills as a graphic designer and it will also your resource for getting admission in a graphic design learning platforms. Choosing a portfolio design for your work should be the first step of creating your graphic design portfolio. The style of the design and the size of the portfolio will play a role in what will be inside. You don’t need to have the most expensive portfolio in the world, but it should be nice, new and look professional.
