Appropriate attire for an interview as a hostess?
-
I have an interview as hostess at Broadway Bar & Grill and I was wondering what kind of clothes I should wear. I was thinking about wearing a white blouse with dress pants but I'm afraid that it'll be too hot and I'll look too conservative. My friend works there and he told me they're looking for a young, pretty, friendly and inviting girl for the job. I was also considering a yellow spaghetti strap shirt tucked into a cute abercrombie skirt but I was afraid that would be too informal. Please help!

Answer:
Don't wear the abercrombie skirt, it is much too informal for any job interview. Wear the outift with the black pants. I was a hostess and eventually server for 4 years at different restaurants and worked at the front desk of hotels. You must be outgoing and friendly like your friend says, but that does not need to reflect the way you dress. You always want to be professional or people (like the manager) will get the wrong idea. To be inviting in that way just make sure you look clean cut and cute, that doesn't mean not to dress professionally. I would wear that outfit with you hair nicely styled. Big curls or straightened with your bangs/hair above you ears pinned back or in a small poof looks cute and nice at the same time. Make sure your makeup is neat, eyeshadow neutral with maybe a shimmer or some gold, and wear mascara, a little blush, and lipgloss. Wear simple jewlery like earrings and a bracelet/necklace. The most important thing is to SMILE. That is literally what every hospitality job looks for. Smile when you walk in, during the interview, and when you leave. Shake hands when you meet the manager who is interviewing you and introduce yourself. Look bright eyed and cheery! Don't be shy! Its not just the way you dress.

I would highly recommend the white blouse and some black dressy flare leg style pants worn with plain black pumps with at least 3 inch heels and closed toes for professionalism. Conservative jewelery and not too flashy. Makeup should be simple as well. Fingernails need to be unpolished and very short not past fingertips. No acrylic nails or bright colors. Good luck! @Asker That's fine but you should have at least one pair of heels for dressy occasions, interviews, weddings etc..

Just don't act needy or wanna it badly. It turned manager off when show signs of being too aggressive. Just same dress as what you wear when you go to Sunday church. You know dress like a good girl.
