Why do I get Yahoo.genieo.com when I open my home page?

Answer:

It is supposed to be a "newspaper-style" homepage. But it acts more like malware. Very difficult to remove. Genieo claims that you can uninstall by following the directions on their website. That sounds fishy because you should be able to uninstall a lousy program directly from your computer. Going to their website might just increase your problems. (but you may have no choice but to try it if the following instructions don't work). Search your computer for the word Genieo (search all files and folders). Delete everything that shows up. Then click on START , then RUN, type "regedit". Click on Edit, then Find, enter Genieo and delete everything that appears.
