What to bring to boy scout camp?

Should I work at a boy scout summer camp?

  • I have the option of going to a boy scout summer camp (I think its Sid Richardson) as a director for nature. How much would I get over the summer? Is it worth it?

  • Answer:

Generally, the pay is quite low. The director of nature would seem to indicate an adult position. As an adult, you might expect alow, but reasonable wage. Not really enough to pay for college tuition or a car or such luxeries, but enough that you have some spending money left and it looks good on a resume. If this is a youth-position (say, you are 16 - 20), then there is a possibility that if you have never worked at the camp before, you would be classified as a CIT (Counselor in Training) - who basically get paid next to nothing. (You get to 'camp' for 6 weeks for 'free' - though you also put in your labor and teaching time) Each camp is a little different. Contact the Camp Director to get the specifics about the position and the pay. Decide how much the resume bonus is worth to you as well.

Working at a boy scout camp is a fun experience and it is completely worth it. You're normally paid $300 for 6 weeks.

Get? you mean you wouldn't volunteer for the opportuntiy? if not maybe $300 a week + room and board at best.
