Are men and women in Kenya treated equally?

When are men supposed to treat women equally, and when are men supposed to treat women different?

  • It's often said women want to be treated equal to men. But the reality is there are many cases where women do not want to be treated equal to men, no matter how much some people will claim otherwise. I'd guess most women, if not all, want to be considered at least equally as valuable as men, but beyond that opinions vary all over the place. With two wildly varying messages out there, it's difficult to know exactly when equal treatment is preferred and when treating a woman "like a woman" is the right way to go. Don't these things conflict with one another? What is the correct one? (Side note here: I don't think men really want to be treated equal to women either. But in almost all cases it's presented as women being treated to men, not vice versa, and most people focus mostly or exclusively on how women are treated. This also brings up the question of exactly what man women are supposed to be treated equal to since not even all men are treated equal, but that's another discussion).

    In a love relationship or dating, we want to be treated equal yet different. On the workplace when it involves our pay, we want equal rights. When we get pregnant we want special treatment and rights that allow us to keep our job. We like to apply equality to any situation that benefits us, there I said it! There's a lot to say on this. Either way you go, someone will be offended, but I do see what you're asking, stating, etc.. Do women really want equality? As humans we do thats all I can say.

The socially acceptable method is to choose whichever approach works out best for women in the given situation, either equality or chivalry. You cannot apply one or the other consistently to all situations, or women will get upset.

I agree with you. Most women are not up to the job of being men. Gender roles are a natural part of our behaviour, as much as the pc mob likes to deny it.

It's not difficult at all. Women which you describe have the following thought process: You should treat me whichever way works objectively better in my favor. A few examples: -the sinking ship - chivalry, you should die, she should live -a tennis match - equality, she's just as capable as you, you're a chauvinist if you don't try your best -dating - chivalry, you should pay, she shouldn't, you should be happy that she gifts you her time -running for office - equality, she's just as capable as you, and then some It's simple really.

To assume that there's a method that works on every woman, would be like assuming there is a method that works on every man. We are all different. If you have one woman you might be interested in, yes...you must treat her better than you would other women, or your friends. In return, she'll treat you better than she does other men, and all her friends. Having a job, education, interest in politics, etc...does not make anyone less a woman, or less a man.

Equality is being treated with human respect. Equality has never meant treated exactly the same. As a man I treat women equally, I always have. Its silly why some men come up with all kinds of excuses not to treat women fairly. The truly superior person treats all people equally. The inferior person is scared to that someone my see his weakness if doesn't dominate someone else.
