Um... what are your best (tried and tested) revision techniques...?

Okay, so I have to revise, memorise and understand Physics Module two.... that's about 1 terms' worth of work.... within two weeks. What are your best revising strategies?

Answer:
Mind maps, not stupid ones where you just out random things off but a proper one Get every single topic within the psychics and give it it's own colour Make one stem coming off from the centre of the mind map, for example I made one for chemistry so I had 'behaviour of matter' in purple and then made a mini mind map and then I made one for 'the particle model' and that was blue and then I did it for the rest Then you pin it up somewhere you always look and test yourself on it Also you can take loads of past papers, they often repeat questions so find as many as you can, the first time use your notes from class to help you if you need it then stop using them after time it will get in your head, then mark it and then memorise the answers, you could find a few of the questions in your test paper and you'll know the answer.... This is kind of cheatIng, but oh well ;) Just read the book sit down and read it and then test yourself, or keep writing it out and use colours colour co-ordinate everything, it will help you link things together in your brain, so constantly write it out from copying, then write it out again without looking and get people to test you Good luck :)

I will swear by just doing as many past papers as you can! Exam boards repeat question styles/ topics and after marking a few for yourself you begin to understand what they want. But you have to do them properly- under timed conditions, and when you don't know an answer, look it up (dont leave it, you'll forget that you don't know it). Also, make notes on the things you don't understand/got wrong. And if past papers get boring, revise from the mark scheme! (its already in note form aha, just copy it out in a way you like best) Good luck (:

my best revision technique is sitting down and doing some and not spending time on the internet procrastinating about it :) if you fail its your fault for not getting your head down or even attending lessons, I didn't attend the majority of mine but I at least kept up with the course work and passed all my GCSE's

You cannot revise that which was never learned to begin with. So the starting point is to find out what you do know and then fill in the holes. This is explained at the site below so go and have a look. It is sad that students are seldom taught the HOW to revise and so they end up being stressed unnecessarily. Good luck in your exams either way
