How do I answer this History Essay question?

Not sure how to answer this essay question from my history 101, help please !?

  • “The Dark Ages were in reality not so dark.” Discuss critically.

    The Dark Ages were in reality not so bad. Answer why the Dark Ages were "positive". I don't know anything about "The Dark Ages". But you should (since you have this for your essay), and then you should know the pros and cons from "The Dark Ages". Focus on the pros (since they stated "were in reality not so dark"), but be prepared to discuss in different views of the story. I don't know if this helped.
