Visa extension problem?

Ancestral Visa extension - what date is the application date. FREAKING OUT Please help!!?

  • So, i am on a 5 year ancestral visa for the UK, it is due to expire on the 20th June, i thought i could apply for indefinite leave to remain but i found out as i had entered the uk 2 months after i was issued a visa i have to apply for an extension then indefinite leave. My problem is that this has taken two weeks to find this information, i thought it was going to be tight to apply for indefinite leave to remain. What if i am now late with my extension application? If my visa expires in the time they are considering my application am i legally here? .... I cant phone the home office tonight so i was hoping someone knowledgeable out there could help!

  • Answer:

You should have entered the UK in less than 28 days after your visa has become valid. That would have enabled you to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). Since you are not eligible to apply for ILR you will need to apply for Further Leave to Remain using form FLR (O). http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/flr/flro_formnew0420091.pdf .. Your status while your application is being considered: If you apply before the end of your permitted stay in the UK, your existing immigration status, including any permission to work, will continue until your application is decided. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/flr/flro_guidenew0420091.pdf ..
