Will I be receive unemployment benefits?

When will I receive my first Unemployment benefits?

  • I just got out of the military, filed for UI benefits on the 25th of April. I filled out the continued form wrong the first time, but the second time I am not sure because question 3 asks if I have looked for work and I marked NO. I was told I should not need to look for work unless the box underneath was marked X. I mailed my second claim form Last Tuesday (8th), and have yet to receive payment or new claim form. How long before I receive UI benefits? Does anyone know if Prior-Military is required to look for work immediately inorder to qualify?

Yes, you are required to look for work. The box that you are talking about, that does not mean you look for work only if it is marked X. If that box is marked with an X, all that means is that you must cite each place you applied to, when, and the status of your employment process with them (via the form on the backside of your claim form). They typically wont have that box checked until you start receiving extensions of your benefits. I started receiving mine about a week or so after I finished the paperwork.

Have you thought about maybe calling the unemployment office that you mailed the form to?
