Can you add css style to a ftp directory?
-
My goal is to create a page (within the same root folder as my domain.com) that people can access online to view, download, and upload large files. Since my webpage has unlimited FTP i figured this wouldn't be a problem. The only solution Ive found so far is to view the actual FTP directory online so you can view all of the files that are uploaded through a simple FTP transfer. So as of now I would have employee users go to ftp://mydomain.com and they can view and download files there. The problem is, the style of the FTP directory is very plain, especially with pc's. Im afraid that if my employees log on this this ftp directory it's going to be confusing for them to find documents because the directory looks like a bunch of code with no variation in text style or anything. Im wondering if there is a way to add some style to this ftp directory. I found one article that said something about a ftp.css. But when I created this css and added it to my root/ css folder on my unlimited ftp, it made no changes to the appearance of my ftp directory (ftp://mydomain.com). Please help if you know how to add style to this directory, or if you know a better way to create a page that you can easily upload and download files, using an already existing domain. (I don;t want to have to buy an additional ftp program or pay a monthly fee for more space, I have unlimited ftp with my domain theres no need to buy anything else) Thanks.

Answer:
What you are describing is not FTP. What you are doing is "enabling directory listing" of your folder in your website, so that a link to your website will list files in your folder(directory) instead of a webpage. Assuming you are using Apache server, try following link. http://perishablepress.com/better-default-directory-views-with-htaccess/
