Shouldn't South India cede as a separate nation?
-
India is a free country and I don't think discussing cessation is in anyway illegal. As such I was wondering about the above question and would like to forward certain arguments in favor of cessation of south India and be an independent nation. The counter argument (for non separation) is status-quo and does not require any elaboration. So, here I go. 1) One argument for cultural unity of India is Ramayana is widespread and forms the basis of ethics and culture over the entire land. But then such similarity is found is Sri Lanka, to Cambodia, to Thailand, and there is no effort in unifying all those nations. So, if we step in from such broad generalization, we find that south India and North India, and in fact North East India and North North India are all culturally separate and maintain their uniqueness, until being forcibly stamped out by the union of India. 2) South India has all the requisites to be an independent Nation. It has a large coast line, mineral wealth, hydrocarbons, fresh water sources (rivers), fertile lands, (to feed its population), historical continuity, (been highly civilized for the past 3000 years at the minimum, supported by the fact that both Tamil and Telugu are recognized as classical languages), administrative continuity, (almost until independence). 3)Here I would like to point out, that the administrative inclusiveness of India and more was in existence only during rein of Aurangazeb, and after a lull, during British India. If this inclusiveness is the basis of today's nation, then efforts should be on, for making Burma, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan and India as a nation. As no such effort is evident, we should conclude that there is no historical administrative inclusiveness as a basis for the formation of present India. 4) Hindi which is only spoken by 30% of Indian population having been made the official language albiet with English, has spawn cultural colonization of non Hindi speaking people. Though most people feel and agree with this, it does require a lot of elaboration n study to be proved. A few supportive facts are: i) South Indian History is not given its due by the Union of India. The same goes for North east and North North India, but here our concern is South India. This is a colonial way, where the subject people are reduced in stature, and made to feel they are dependent on the oppressors for cultural and historical roots. This is similar to Dalit subjugation and British subjugation of natives, where the education glorified the British way and ridiculed the local culture/history/dignity, until local assertive authorship pushed itself to forefront to expose the lies. ii) No non Hindi speaking leader is elevated by the "national media", and worse is put down from rising in the ranks of federal politician. Should see the derision of the media, when non Hindi speaking MP's take their oath in English... iii) No non Hindi speaking south India, though he might be well educated but has chosen or did not learn Hindi, is considered as educated by average middle class north indian. 5) South Indian are better educated among all India, and do speak accent less English than North Indians and do reach out to the West more, which again would make it a very successful nation. In support of this I would like to point out, the immigration from south to west as a whole in the percentage of immigration out of India to west. Also, note the fact, that North Indian business houses, once they reach a saturation in their home market expand in south, aided by the proximity of financial markets and administrative controls (practice the art of managing the environment :) ), and then look west wards...in contrast south Indian business houses once they be leaders in their home market, (finding the north hostile), just move out of India to west for expansion. This alone should make one wonder about the discrimination towards south and think positively about the above question. 6) Language and culture do bond people of South India (rather than Tamils alone, though tamils might be under a misconception about their exclusivity), but to elaborate on this, there is not enough space here, so one has to examine its veracity on their own. I would really appreciate it if one has an academic discussion on the above question and see if cessation is indeed in tune with the needs of the present. Koti Ravi Kiran Chalasani.

Answer:
do you know how many Indians know that Hindi ain't their official languages ? yes "Tamil" is the only ancient classical civilization still to survive in India and not even many Indians know this.once Hindi was concentrated in and around Delhi, probably 4 states but how did it spread to rest of the states ? if Hindi has to be as our official language just because it is the connecting language,we should have made "Crow" as our official bird instead of "Peacock" and Rat instead of Bengal tiger.moreover India doesn't want Hindi-Urdu as official language or English ,they want just want to make only Hindi as our official language.how many of Hindi speaking communities learn "Carnatic music" and "Bharathanatiyam" ,both are our official music and official dance ? Dravidian languages are not from Sanskrit, yes we are that unique,we had everything since ancient past..forcing Dravidians to learn Hindi or any north Indian stuffs is like forcing Indians to learn Chinese..why south India is more prosperous ? why south indians are more civilized than north indians ? low crime rates, better per capita income, better household, most urbanished, higher literacy rate than north, low fertility rate, good colleges ,IT,high UG graduates output, most scientists are south indians..etc.on everything south india has done way better than north india.why is it ? arnt we as corrupt like north ? south indians have pride and love for their language..it is not about partition, the real question is why india is not teaching its people good history ? india has done nothing on sri lankan tamils..many countries like singapore, sri lanka, mauritius and many more has made tamil as one of the official languages..what is the problem with india having multiple official languages like many other countries ? india certainly has to teach its people the truth.

Why do you speak of another partition? This is shameful. As an Indian and at this pathetic condition our nation is in,what we should speak of is national integration and not the sort you speak about! No offence!
I totally agree with the girl above me

Indian Constitution does not allow secession. The problems in the North Eastern states and J & K are due to this. No coordinated independence movement is possible in India, as the attempt would be frowned upon by other states and the movement would be put down ruthlessly, by the might of the armed power of the State. THose who dreamt of Dravida Nadu gave up the demand five decades ago. There is no possibility of a more cohesive movement or more popular leader than C.N. Annadurai, emerging in foreseeable future. Also, with the unipolar world today, such a new State would soon be gobbled up by the economic colonialists and their underlings in India, and in a few decades all natural resources would be drained away leaving the only choice for people to drown themselves in the sea surrounding the three sides of the peninsula.

Of course not. Cultural and linguistic differences alone are not a valid reason for secession. India's strength lies in its diversity. Just look at Pakistan - after independence they made sure to exterminate the entire Hindu population, and now they are more or less a failed state.

I had strong discriptive arguements against ur points but for some reason it's not submitting.it was too long i guess.never mind.in short i disagree.y do u see urself seaparate from us?all of south india doesn't have same language n their culture differ quite a bit.would u then create a separate country with each state?if such a thing were to happen there would be no india.there will be like small europe coz even in the north the cultures n languages differ.punjab, haryana,up,bihar,mp,uttara… all have diffrent native language.hindi is a second language these people from non hindi state know coz of it's dominance.thing is we couldn't have been stronge on our own than we r when we r together n we'r developing n doing great.BTW IMAO north india's english accent is better.
