How can I get Xbox live to connect to the internet?

I used to have my Xbox downstairs and it connected to Xbox live fine. I moved my Xbox upstairs to get better Wifi signal and now whenever I try and connect to Xbox live it can find the network but when I click on my network it cant connect to the internet. I have double checked that the password I entered is correct and it seems I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. It is especially annoying because I bought Xbox live gold three days ago and I haven't really been able to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go over to the dsl and see if it says it can connect to the internet or even try to go on to your computer and go to xbox live.try that
