How to edit certain film?

How do they edit FILM in after effects ?

• I want to know how they edit movies shot in " FILM " in after effects. I know how to use after effects , but most of the videos i have are not FILM. So it baffles me how they edit film in after effects..Do they have to do some kind of conversion? If so wouldn't that degrade the quality ?

  They don't. After Effects is designed for applying effects, titles, audio, etc. to film. If somebody is using After Effects they are likely using Premier Pro for the editing. Both programs can export as uncompressed and thus no noticeable degrade will be applied, and then when the editing and effects are done they do a final formatting export through Premier. Many companies use programs like Final Cut Pro and Avid to do editing and effects in due to the fact that its easier than exporting between software.
