So when did the Titanic sank?

My mum cannot grasp the fact that the Titanic sank during the Edwardian era?!?

  • Oh my gosh, it is so annoying! She was thinking the Titanic sank late in the Victorian era, and when I said it wasn't she was like "Not the Victorian era?! It didn't sink a long time ago then, did it?" And she thought it sank in the 1930's, and then she was like "I didn't know they wore clothes like that in the 1930's" and I tried to explain to her that it was in the Late Edwardian era, after the Victorian era, and she doesn't understand. What do I do?

  • Answer:

Just tell her she was only ten years out. Not many people remember Edward VII anyway, he was a bit of a "fill in" between the Victorian and the War Era's.

The Edwardian period is sometimes extended beyond Edward's death in 1910 to include the years up to the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912, the start of World War I in 1914, the end of hostilities with Germany in 1918, or the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. <<<show her this.
