What is the career path of a secretary?

Need help with career choice after community college degree ?

  • I graduated in business administration and applied everywhere stating that I want to manage business's and be the president But so far I have not received any replies and I an starting to think that my degree is kinda useless because I didn't have any experience in school for work terms At one place the secretary told me that I'd need at least a business degree from university, 40 years of experience and MBA degree from Harvard before I'd be even considered for an interview I think she was BSing me because I have seen many Indians walking in and out of that place and Im very certain that they didn't go to Harvard but are there on H1B visas Should I get an MBA? Will that help me? Or should I study engineering and change my career path ? Will I have a job? I'm kinda old and still don't own any house or car and have debt from school

  • Answer:

What the secratary told you has some truth to it. A community college degree will not treally get you anywhere. Go get a 4 year business degree. At that point, go and get an MBA because you won't be accepted to a masters program without a 4 year degree. Also, readjust your sights. Your career goal is "nice" but is probably seen as a joke on your resume. I would go to career fairs and also get your resume critiqued.
