Is there such a thing as FREE money?

Is this a bad thing? money for son?

• So since my son was born i got a piggy bank for him at my baby shower. We have been putting our loose change in it since he was born and rolling it and putting it in a safe for him and saving up all his holiday money in the safe and hea probably already got a good 200 bucks and hes only a year old. I wasnt going to give it to him till he was 18. I have been getting alot of rude comments from mothers saying its not good for me just to hand him money when hea 18 that he wont learn how to earn and make money for himself. And that i should spend the money to raise him and that hes going to get all that money and start drugs and blah blah blah. Hes only one right now so i think thats a little far fetch. What am i doing wrong. Am i worry about what ppl think for no reason? I just figured its his money he should be able to pick stuff out himself when hes older maybe a car. Should i cut back on what i put away? Should i stop? Or should i buy him stuff now with it? Do u think he wont be able to budget money?

  Stop worrying...you aren't doing anything wrong! If it would make you feel better, when you give it to him, tell him he has to use it toward his college education. or to buy his first car. (or something practical...you get the idea).
