What is fuel rate?

Find height of a rocket given initial mass, velocity of ejecting fuel, final mass, and rate of burning fuel.?

  • A rocket with a mass of 100kg burns fuel at a rate of 2 kg per second. the fuel leaves the rocket downward with a velocity of 500 meters per second until all the fuel is used. if the rocket's final mass is 1/4 of the initial mass, how high does the rocket go?

  • Answer:

You might know the Newtons third law. Then, from the law rocket moves up due to the force exerted by the fuel on rocket and balances the gravitation of earth on rocket . now GMm*1/h*1/h=v*rate of burning of fuel.where M=mass of earth,Height of rocket,v=velocity of fuel. solve it and get h. I hope it helped.
