How long should I wait before going tanning again?

• Before anyone gives me sh*t, I am indoor tanning as prescribed by my doctor to treat acne and seasonal affective disorder and I usually am smart about it. Indoor Tanning has been going well so far and I haven't experienced any sunburns or redness, but today, I went up a minute and I was fine after but a bunch of my friends decided to go to the beach after I was done, so I went along and sat out for about 3 hours in the sun (5-8 pm). I figured that since it wasn't anywhere near the sun's peak hours that I should be fine. I got home and realized that I was very red and I'm not sure if it's from the indoor tanning, the beach or a combination of both, but there is no blistering or pain and it's not lobster red. My sunburns usually heal overnight or after 1-2 days at max and they never blister or are painful. Should I go back to the tanning salon as soon as the burn heals or wait a week or two? I'm going to write this again because there are a lot of people who like to skip the description and just give someone sh*t for the question or the basic premise. I am indoor tanning because it is PRESCRIBED; not for vanity purposes and I fully understand the risks so you don't need to tell me. Also, I understand that going to the beach on the same day was not the brightest idea so again, you don't need to tell me. Either be helpful or don't respond to the question. Thank you. =)

  You need to wait until the burns heal completely - no peeling, no redness, nothing. I'm curious - not judging - as to why a doctor would prescribe indoor tanning for SAD? I suffer from the condition and each doctor/therapist I have seen suggests natural sunlight. Did (s)he give you any particular reason as to why indoor is better?
