What kind of cell phone cover is best to buy?

I'm going to get a new phone and I want to get a phone case as well. I don't know what kind of material for the case I should use. I feel like the button openings for the rubberized plastic snap-on cases make it all strange looking. Then again, I remember having a rubber case on my old phone and it was so flexible that it stretched out completely and kept falling off my phone. I need a type of plastic that is flexible enough to put on my phone and STAY on my phone no matter what. What kind should I buy?
