Baking Soda Teeth Whitening?

I am wondering if baking soda will whiten your teeth if you mix it with your toothpaste. I have a colgate whitening toothpaste but it doesn't work good on me and i have been using it for months. And can the baking soda be store brand, because u have the walart great value baking soda.
