How many job apps does one looking for work send out in a day?

How many job applications does one who is looking for a job (any kind of work) generally send out in a day? I'm curious because this is my first time looking for a job and so I want a number that I can push for. For comparison's sake, I've filled out 23 apps online this weekend.

It really depends really. I tried to do about 20 per day. I also kept an excel sheet of the links to all of the jobs I applied to and also the source of the job (monster, career builder etc)
