NICU nurse job description?

I am 14 years old and I'm thinking about becoming a NICU nurse. I love babies and I think I would like it. I have some questions: How sad is it? Could I handle the sadness? What kind of schooling does it take? How much is the beginning/average salary? I live in CA. Is it easy to get a job in this field? Is there anything else I should know?
Answer:

For now you need to finish high school and then apply to a bachelors nursing school--you have time to figure this out, and salary etc is not pertinent to you this far out. You should plan on volunteering in a hospital when you are a bit older to see this in action. Remember, you are not playing with healthy happy fat babies. You are giving care to very ill, compromised preemies & neonates. You may not get hired right off in the NICU-it seems everyone wants to eb a NICU nurse and there are only so many openings.
