What is it like working as youth staff on a cruise ship?

  • I would like to know what it is like working in the area of child care or youth activity on a cruise ship. Some things I am interested in knowing include: - living conditions - responsibilities involved in the type of work - work hours - any time off during port visits - pay (more importantly how much money a worker can save) - the overall experience working on a cruise ship Any other information would also be great. Youth staff on two cruise ships told me that while much of the work is rather fun, there always seem to be one or more real brats in every group who whine, carry on, are disruptive, and who try to make trouble for the crew. Then their parents file formal complaints and all hell can break loose. If you get into that kind of job, GOOD LUCK!
