Can you delete your own Facebook account?

Please help...how can I make my 11 yr old delete her facebook account and take down racy photos?

  • I'm not sure what went wrong here... I always made sure to maintain a nice balance between being strict but allowing some freedom as well. She does not have her own computer, but I allow her to use mine for an hour per day. I've always told her to make sure her shorts reach mid-thigh and no shorter, and that spaghetti-straps are not to be worn unless to the beach. I've allowed her to go to the mall with friends, but only with an adult (me or another parent). Now, I'm finding out she has a facebook account with photos of her in a bikini *that she somehow purchased without my knowledge* and she is in seductive poses, and wearing tons of makeup (bright red lipstick, etc). She also has about 500 friends, most of which are random men. I spent two hours talking with her last night, told her that her internet activity would be monitored until she matures a little bit more, and I told her to delete the account. She refuses to log in and delete it. What can I do about this?

  • Answer:

Celeste, unfortunately, you are a parent that would be a dream client for the civil libertaraians of this world. Somehow you have managed to spare the rod and spoil the child. Now the consequences are coming back to haunt you. You are not nor have you ever been a 'bad' parent. Someone took those photos, so find out who, then find out who uploaded them. Your next step is to go to the Police and get them to contact Facebook and have the account deleted. Given that you have already taken steps to limit your daughter's internet activity, these steps should bring the matter to a close for you. You are in fact being a GOOD parent by bringing this out, so don't worry about idiots like agent orange.

1 Dont let her use the computer then 2 When she signs into it get her off the computer & delete it yourself But if you do that she will just make another facebook account. If I were you I would just take away her internet access so she knows she isn't going to get what she wants & only give it back when both of you cont to an agreement. Most kids have facebook at the age of 8

Like agent orange stated you are the parent but it seems like she is the one in control. Put your foot down. My mother would've jacked me up if I acted like that. Take control mom

Make your own facebook account and monitor her activity 24/7. She'll be completely off within a few days.
