Why is hunting good for the environment?

Years ago before we killed them off, much of our country had large predators roaming the land. Bears, Wolves,Cougars,and Alligators all could be found in a much larger parts of the country. They preyed on other animals which kept their populations in balance with what the land could provide food for. We moved in and to keep ourselves safer killed most off the predators. Deer and other "game animals" will breed and eat until there isn't enough food to survive. Long suffering starvation would occur to get the balance right. Massive die-offs would be followed by population explosions when the resources recover. Giant swings in the populations would decrease genetic viability and vulnerability to disease. A whole lot of research goes into hunting and fishing regulations to determine how to harvest the animals in way best for the ecosystem. In fact all that research is payed by hunting license fees with another large portion going to conservation. Just buying a hunting license helps fund things like protecting endangered species, restoring habitats, and stopping poachers. You do more for the planet buying a hunting license than giving the same money to an anti-hunter group who care more for their "cause" than the do the actual environment.Most people that hunt and fish care about making sure their kids and grandkids have to same opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as well.

Prevents over browsing of food sources. Keeps wildlife numbers to acceptable numbers. Herd health is improved and starvation does not cause slow death.Animals are able to put on needed fat for winter in order to survive in areas with harsh winters.

Money goes to the environment and hunting keeps the populations at the right level.
