Can you delete your own Facebook account?

Please help...how can I make my 11 yr old delete her facebook account and take down racy photos?

  • I'm not sure what went wrong here... I always made sure to maintain a nice balance between being strict but allowing some freedom as well. She does not have her own computer, but I allow her to use mine for an hour per day. I've always told her to make sure her shorts reach mid-thigh and no shorter, and that spaghetti-straps are not to be worn unless to the beach. I've allowed her to go to the mall with friends, but only with an adult (me or another parent). Now, I'm finding out she has a facebook account with photos of her in a bikini *that she somehow purchased without my knowledge* and she is in seductive poses, and wearing tons of makeup (bright red lipstick, etc). She also has about 500 friends, most of which are random men. I spent two hours talking with her last night, told her that her internet activity would be monitored until she matures a little bit more and she will only be allowed on for schoolwork, she will be grounded for 3 weeks, and I told her to delete the account. She refuses to log in and delete it. What can I do about this?

  • Answer:

You can limit more of her freedom until she caves and gives you the password. Keep in mind, this could take a lot - no friends over, no phone, no activities outside of the house even. She's eleven, not 21...be sure to remind her of that by taking any makeup, skimpy clothing or anything else that could make her think otherwise.

Last time I checked, you have to be thirteen to have a Facebook. Irresponsible parenting right there. Why are you asking us? Seriously. I'm thirteen, and I would never dream of doing that because my mom would kill me. She would probably burn my laptop. You need to hold the reins tighter. Take away her Internet priveleges. And even use for school. If her teachers email you and ask why, explain that you had trust issues. I guarantee she won't do it again if her grades plummet. Grow a backbone.

Aurra

Contact Facebook first to get the account gone. She shouldn't be on Facebook, you have to be 13 or older. Watch her much more closely, have access to her e-mail or completely ban her from the computer until she's older.

NightFiree3

Contact the facebook administrators and ask them to delete the account, she's only 11 and you have to be 13+ to use facebook.

Whoop her a.ss. And if you delete it, she can simply log back in and nothing would have changed. You should take computer privilages completely away, or block facebook.

Go ape sheet on her..

DoneWithTheTrolling

You can't. You can stop her from accessing it on your own computer but you can't stop her from updating it elsewhere and you can't control the account.
