PHOTOSHOP: how to make your pictures look like modelling pictures?
-
ok, so i have loads of random snap shots of my baby daughter.. they are good quality, but just taken in our living room, or in her bedroom or whatever. i know how to edit the lighting and everything, but i want to make it look like she has had a proper photoshoot, with the white back-ground and stuff.. your probably wondering why, cause i know it must sound pretty strange!! i want some lovelly pictures of her to put around my house, and cant afford a real photoshoot. i also love playing round on photoshop. here are some pictures of what i mean. each are copyright to the websites they are linked with, and i found them on google.neither pictures are related to me, and simply examples. first one: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=572&tbm=isch&tbnid=vIfOTpwdWuC1NM:&imgrefurl=http://www.masterfile.com/stock-photography/image/640-02948711/mother-and-baby-in-a-bedroom&docid=gkw4kWmH8CsicM&itg=1&imgurl=http://image1.masterfile.com/em_w/02/94/87/640-02948711w.jpg&w=550&h=549&ei=DzGwT5vfI4aM8gPKv_X1DQ&zoom=1 so just a mum and baby in a normal room. i want to make the background all white, i can do that easy, but it just looks like the person is floating. how can i make it look like this? http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?start=155&um=1&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=572&tbm=isch&tbnid=Q6-v8fVC48770M:&imgrefurl=http://www.ababycare.com/stages-of-standing/&docid=gjvF93zir8aV6M&imgurl=http://www.ababycare.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/baby-sitting.jpg&w=347&h=346&ei=dDGwT73ZBunK0QXU97W-BA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=634&vpy=105&dur=223&hovh=224&hovw=225&tx=124&ty=114&sig=114504066160278809791&page=7&tbnh=127&tbnw=131&ndsp=32&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:155,i:156

>>ok, so i have loads of random snap shots of my baby daughter.. they are good quality, but just taken in our living room, or in her bedroom or whatever.<< If they are good quality, you don't need photoshop to make them look like modelling pictures. If you want them to look like professional modelling shots, you need to do what the pros do. You need to properly compose and shoot the images. At that point, Photoshop isn't necessary for more than tweaking the color balance or the contrast. For example, the photo of the baby in front of a white background...That is done, believe it or not, by placing the child on a white background. The background comes down the wall, and curves onto the floor. That ensures that there is no hard edge where the wall and floor meet. Then, the lighting is set up to ensure that the child is properly lit for the photograph, and the image is captured.

You have to take a good picture to start off. Photoshop can't do everything. If you have bad light on the subject then it will be very difficult to salvage the picture. I wish I could give you instructions but it would take far more than the space allotted here to tell you how to shoot.
