How did Google get my legal name and mailing address?

• I created a Google Ad Sense account a while back with a generic non-identifying user name. I have also never, at any time, on any product of Google's given them my legal name or mailing address (I am 100% sure of this). Since I created the Ad Sense account, Google has mailed me $100 Ad Sense gift cards. They are addressed to me only (even though I live in a house with multiple people). I never thought much about it, but how on earth did they get my legal name and mailing address from a non-identifying user name on an Ad Sense account? I asked around to my friends and people without Ad Sense accounts never got anything in the mail from Google, and people with Ad Sense accounts have (regardless of if they entered their name/address or not). I almost didn't want to post this because I am genuinely scared. What do you think?

  Correlating information is Google's specialty; it's what made them who they are today. If you ever signed up for one of their services that has mailing info, they will merge the data. On the other hand, they also buy lists, like any other direct marketer. I get postal mail from Google for AdSense sent to a company I had that stopped trading about 8 years ago... I wouldn't worry about it.
