What does an "unlocked phone" mean?

HELP! Can I sell my contract phone on Ebay? What does ''unlocked phone'' mean?

  • Well, it's not really on contract anymore... It's the T-Mobile C7-00 Astound and the 2 year contract is over. I listed it on Ebay as unlocked... I switched to Sprint earlier ago so the phone is useless for me. Is it OK if it's listed on Ebay as ''unlocked''? Will I get in trouble if it's not? The phone is listed for $5.00. Please help!

  • Answer:

Yes you can sell your contract phone on Ebay. As for listing it as unlocked do not list it as unlocked unless it really is unlocked. An unlocked phone is that phone which will work with any network sim in it eg Vodaphone, 02. T-mobile etc. A locked phone will only allow one network sim in it and that is the network who the phone belongs to or who you bought the phone from in the first place eg. T-mobile. I hope that helps

Other answers

No Unlock means that a user can use it on any network without problem. Much like Iphone on T-mobile network when neither T-mobile or Apple sells Iphones on T-mobile.
