Can i learn a language by getting a tutor ?

hello i want to learn brazilian portuguese so i am going to get a tutor to teach me if i do this can i learn it full then after i am done with the tutor i am going to live in Brazil for abit an learn over the two do you think i can learn the full language ? and how long would it take

Yes,but it is best to learn a language by living in the country,slightly different to learning it ,class-room stlye,that is how babies born in a foreign country learn to speak their own language even before they go to school.
