Answer:
Anime is the slang of Animēshon (Japanese) or Animation (English) it is the term used by fans of Japanese Animation in place of the word Japanimation which was put into disuse due to it sounding like people where using a racial slur 'Jap'. To keep it simple Anime is just Cartoons that come from Japan. Comic Books are a collection of sequential images. The main differences is that Comic Books are mainly about Super Hero's which have no end in sight and mainly done with colored images. Manga while means Comics in Japanese there are some differences. Mainly no color images except for special reasons, also they most of the time have an ending in sight. There are probable a lot of Key Words you should know like, but can not think of any right now and do not know which ones you know.

The term Anime refers to animated TV shows. The word is actually a shortened version of animation. Manga refers to comics. Pretty much anything that involves illustrations and (usually) word bubbles on paper that tells some sort of story. In Japan, the words would describe all types of animation and comics. Whether you're talking about Garfield, Dragon Ball, X-Men, etc. Outside of Japan, those terms are pretty much exclusively used as slang to describe animation and comics from Japan. Some people do use the terms to refer to series with art styles that were clearly influenced by Japanese anime, like Teen Titans or Avatar: The Last Air Bender, but most people would not consider either of those series to be anime since they aren't actually Japanese series. I'm from America, and, generally: Manga refers to Japanese comics. Manhwa refers to Korean comics. Manhua refers to Chinese comics. And, comics from pretty much any other country are simply called comics. The term, "comic books" generally refers specifically to actual comic books. You know? Those flimsy 20-30 page long books, held together by a couple of staples? Graphic novels generally refers to just about any comic that's been printed in book-format, whether or not it was priory serialized as a comic book or in a magazine or something. And, the word "comic" can refer to anything...Peanuts strips in the newspaper, an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, a volume of Scott Pilgrim, a collected edition of The Walking dead. Or, even manga/manhwa/manhua.(Though, there are some people that would jump on you and say, "It's not a comic, it's manga!)

Anime are Japanese cartoons ( Japanese animation). Manga are Japanese comic books. Comic books are sequential art with text that tell a story. Trade paperbacks are a collection of comic books bound together. Graphic novels are a stand alone story in comic book format but containing more pages than a standard comic book, the size and shape may also be different. Edit I like Butler's explanation of anime and manga. He explained the difference between what Americans think anime and manga means and what Japanese think they mean.

Anime is a form of cartoon from Japan (but is now made in other places in the world) with a very distinct art form to it. Comics are a mostly American form of book that is heavily based on pictures. Magna is best described as cross between anime and comics.
