Who is a Jehovah Witness?

Jehovah's witness, Is Jesus for everyone who calls on Him or only a Select Group of Jehovah's witnesses?

  • “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.

  • Answer:

Greetings, Your question is illogical. Obviously Jesus is for “EVERYONE who calls on him” and ALL Jehovah’s Witnesses call on Jesus. The name Jesus means Jehovah the Savior, (or Jehovah's Salvation/Jehovah is Salvation). We must call on Jesus because Jesus was appointed as God's "means" of salvation, we are saved by Jehovah "through" Jesus. Jesus is the "mediator" for Salvation by God (1Tim. 2:5, Heb 2:10, Ac. 5:31 Jude 1:25 etc.). However, the evidence is that ONLY Jehovah's Witnesses can provide irrefutable evidence that they are the True Christian Congregation (Mt.7:16-23; Jn.13:34,35; 2Tim3:5; 1Cor. 6:9-11; Gal.5:19-23). When you examine most religions you find that they cannot meet the requirements of true Christianity. Their historical record is of bloodthirsty wars, immorality, sectarian violence and factional splits. Today Catholics continue to kill Catholics and Protestants kill Protestants, something true Christians would not do (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8). Further, the context of your own quoted scripture shows that the bible consistently differentiates two groups. A small, numbered group and a large numberless group, both who believe in Christ and both who gain salvation. John chapter 10 mentions one "fold" of sheep (10:1ff) but then mentions "other sheep" not in the first "fold" (10:16) and they would both would be united as "one flock" following Christ (Christians). According to Rev. 7:4 and 7:9-10 we have two groups. The definite number 144,000 is contrasted with a numberless group of Christians. Only the small group is taken to heaven to rule as kings and priests. Luke 12:32 shows that it is a "little flock" who obtain the Kingdom. Matthew the 25th chapter also details two separate Christian groups. One is called the "brothers of Christ," and the other group are others who showed kindness to his "brothers." Christ's brothers are definitely those called to heavenly life (Rm.8:28-30; Heb.2:10-12). We also are told about a "first" resurrection of the "Kings and priests" and then a second resurrection (Rev.20:4-6). Kings and Priests are a small group compared to their "subjects." (Rev.5:10; 20:4-6). Similarly, Rev. 22:17 shows that the "Bride of the Lamb" mentioned earlier (19:7-9; 21:9) would then invite others to gain everlasting life (Cf. Mat.25:10; 2Cor.11:1-3). Further corroboration is found in God's stated purpose "to gather all things together again in the Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth" (Eph.1:10). Also with God's "will being done on Earth as it is in heaven" (Mat.6:10), and God residing with MANKIND forever (Rev.21:3). Similarly we have the contrast in Rom. 8:19-22 between the"son's of God" who are revealed and the "creation" who also are "children of God." Both groups will gain freedom from sin. (1Jn.3:2; 1Cor.15:48-49; Phil.3:20-21). Compare also Rev.5:9, 10; Dan.7:27; Lk.12:32; 22:29,30; Heb.12:23; 1Pet.1:3-4. So we always have two Scriptural groups who both gain salvation. But one is always a limited number who would be kings and Priests. The other clearly would be a great multitude of subjects who fulfill God's stated purpose to live eternally on the earth. Yours, BAR-ANERGES

1 Timothy 2:3-4, "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have ALL men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." The offer of salvation is to ALL, not a select group.

First let the book "The Greatest Man who ever Lived" explain this illustration: Paste: Jesus now uses an illustration in which he mentions three sheepfolds and his role as the Fine Shepherd. The first sheepfold he speaks of is identified with the Mosaic Law covenant arrangement. The Law served as a fence, separating the Jews from the corrupting practices of those people not in this special covenant with God. Jesus explains: “Most truly I say to you, He that does not enter into the sheepfold through the door but climbs up some other place, that one is a thief and a plunderer. But he that enters through the door is shepherd of the sheep.” Others had come and claimed to be the Messiah, or Christ, but they were not the true shepherd of whom Jesus goes on to speak: “The doorkeeper opens to this one, and the sheep listen to his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. . . . A stranger they will by no means follow but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” The “doorkeeper” of the first sheepfold was John the Baptizer. As the doorkeeper, John ‘opened to’ Jesus by identifying him to those symbolic sheep that he would lead out to pasture. These sheep that Jesus calls by name and leads out are eventually admitted to another sheepfold, as he explains: “Most truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep,” that is, the door of a new sheepfold. When Jesus institutes the new covenant with his disciples and from heaven pours holy spirit upon them the following Pentecost, they are admitted to this new sheepfold. Further explaining his role, Jesus says: “I am the door; whoever enters through me will be saved, and he will go in and out and find pasturage. . . . I have come that they might have life and might have it in abundance. . . . I am the fine shepherd, and I know my sheep and my sheep know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I surrender my soul in behalf of the sheep.” Recently, Jesus had comforted his followers, saying: “Have no fear, little flock, because your Father has approved of giving you the kingdom.” This little flock, which eventually numbers 144,000, comes into this new, or second, sheepfold. But Jesus goes on to observe: “I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.” Since the “other sheep” are “not of this fold,” they must be of another fold, a third one. These last two folds, or pens of sheep, have different destinies. The “little flock” in one fold will rule with Christ in heaven, and the “other sheep” in the other fold will live on the Paradise earth. Yet, despite being in two folds, the sheep have no jealousy, nor do they feel segregated, for as Jesus says, they “become one flock” under “one shepherd.” The Fine Shepherd, Jesus Christ, willingly gives his life for both folds of sheep. “I surrender it of my own initiative,” he says. “I have authority to surrender it, and I have authority to receive it again. The commandment on this I received from my Father.” When Jesus says this, a division results among the Jews. Not Book: if you called on Jesus Christ, you would be one of Jehovah's Witnesses

Hi there Jesus is for everybody who listens to his voice and becomes a Christian. It is up to everybody to determine what a true Christian is. Is a true Christian who worships Jesus as God or is it one who worships the same God that Jesus worships? The only way you will find out is to pray to the one that Jesus prayed to and honestly ask for his holy spirit to guide you to find the truth. The Father helps those who are seeking him to find him. He will guide you to the "way, the truth and the life", who is God's annointed one, Jesus.

The Bible states Jesus is there for EVERYONE, the Jehovah's Witnesses state that Jesus is only there for their 144,000 anointed class. I don't think the Jehovah's Witnesses have it right. Bible John 14:6 "Jesus said to him: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 17:3 "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ." Watchtower "Through the new covenant, Jehovah makes blessings available to many by means of a few. Those in the covenant are few, a mere 144,000. Through them, millions from all nations will be blessed with everlasting life in an earthly paradise. Some who are in the new covenant serve Jehovah on earth today. They alone properly partake of the bread and the wine because the cup "means the new covenant." Watchtower 2012 Mar 1 p.17

Jehovah's Witnesses have a shepherd called the Governing Body of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. This is the voice they hear and the words they believe, have faith in, and follow. This is far from the voice of Christ Jesus Immanuel our Lord and Savior. All of the wordy workarounds and explain-aways given is simply to bypass the "whosoever" in John chapter three.

We find this question to be quite logical. The correct meaning of the word Jesus is as follows- Yeshuah (H3444) written Yod-Shin-Vav-Ayin-Hey, is a feminine noun that means "salvation". Yeshua (H3442) written Yod-Shin-Vav-Ayin, is a masculine noun that means "He is salvation" or "He saves." It is the name that refers to Joshua in the TeNaKh (OT), and is the shortened form of Yehoshua which the name Jesus was derived from. In scripture we find in Matthew 1:21 "for He will save His people from their sins". "Therefore she will give birth to a son, and she will call his name Yëshuå, for he will save his people from their sins." –Matay (Matthew) 1:21 The Hebrew name Yeshua means "he will save". Responder states-“However, the evidence is that ONLY Jehovah's Witnesses can provide irrefutable evidence that they are the True Christian Congregation (Mt.7:16-23; Jn.13:34,35; 2Tim3:5; 1Cor. 6:9-11; Gal.5:19-23). When you examine most religions you find that they cannot meet the requirements of true Christianity. Their historical record is of bloodthirsty wars, immorality, sectarian violence and factional splits. Today Catholics continue to kill Catholics and Protestants kill Protestants, something true Christians would not do (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8)”. We state: Here is some “irrefutable evidence that they are the True Christian Congregation”- The Watchtower, July 15, 1961, p. 420: "When a person persists in a way of badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of his make-up, then in order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked…Jesus did not mean for us to love the hardened enemies of Jehovah." So this is the idea of “True Christians” at their finest? Interesting. So “Christians must hate”? Jesus being God (John 1:1) the following is true: Isaiah 43:11- even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. The real understanding of “the Great Crowd”- Rev. 19:1 - “After these things I heard what was as a loud voice of a great crowd in heaven.” Same as Rev. 7:9 - “look! a great crowd ... standing before the throne” A great multitude = “the great crowd.” Again, this crowd is only seen after the 144,000 are sealed, which is still in the future. The actual location of the great multitude is of the utmost importance because if they in heaven and not on earth, as the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach then there whole foundation crumbles to pieces. We will look at it logically and biblically; lets watch it crumble to dust by reading their statements and then the Word of God. The location of the great crowd - “before the throne,” “BEFORE THE LAMB” (Rev. 7:11), and We know the Lamb is in heaven Not on earth, but there are others in Heaven because that same phrase “before the throne” is also found in 7:9 and refers to a great multitude that no man can count, which is a different group from the 144,000! And what is the location of the great crowd? “Before the throne” of God (Revelation 7:9, 15). What does the book of Revelation state? Rev. 1:4 seven spirits that are before God's throne. Rev.4:5 seven lamps of fire are burning before the throne v.6 a glassy sea like crystal is before the throne. In chapter 7 we are introduced to the 144,000 and the great crowd, chapter 7:9 a great crowd, ... standing before the throne and before the Lamb v.11 “And all the angels were standing around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell upon their faces before the throne and worshiped God” This great crowd comes out of the tribulation from the 144,000 and others preaching the gospel, in other words they are dead and are now in heaven around the throne. Why have they died? They are the numerous ones that come out of the great tribulation by death. Rev. 13:7 “It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.” Rev. 17:6 “I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.” Even though they are killed, laying their lives down for their faith they have eternal life. Rev 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Conclusion: With all that said, it is quite clear that Jesus saves ALL those who believe and not only a select group of haters such as the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Watchtower of Babel

Jesus' sacrifice was for every human who ever lived. Jehovah's witnesses are some of the few who have taken advantage of it. God stated He would only be worshiped in spirit and truth. Any other form of worship is a waste of time. God will not accept it. The truth is available to you any time you want it. Best wishes.

Jesus Christ recommended vigorous exertion to gain salvation, “to get in through the narrow door.” (Lu 13:23, 24; Php 3:13, 14; compare Mt 7:13, 14.) On another occasion he likened himself to the door of a figurative sheepfold, Jesus being the right kind of shepherd who leads his “little flock” into a relationship with Jehovah on the basis of the new covenant sealed with Jesus’ own blood. (Lu 12:32; Joh 10:7-11) Jesus’ likening himself to such a door harmonizes with the fact that through him, by virtue of his ransom sacrifice, sheeplike persons can approach God, be saved, and gain life.—Joh 14:6. Jesus called attention to another group when he said: “I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.” (Joh 10:16) These are not of the “little flock” (Lu 12:32), but they too must approach Jehovah through Jesus Christ and be baptized in water. The vision given to the apostle John, as recorded in Revelation, harmonizes with this when, after showing John the 144,000 “sealed” ones, it turns his eyes to “a great crowd, which no man was able to number.” These are shown as having “washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb,” indicating faith in the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God. (Re 7:9, 14) They are therefore given favorable recognition, “standing before [God’s] throne,” but are not those whom God selects to be the “sealed” 144,000. As to this “great crowd,” the vision goes on to point out that they serve God day and night and will be protected and will be cared for by him.—Re 7:15-17.
