Why is my computer running slow?

Why is my computer running so slow?

  • I scan my computer weekly for spyware, adware, malware, trojans, worms, parasites and viruses. I go directly to the controls panel of my computer in the system and security section to check for issues very frequently. I disable all unused addons and uninstall all unused programs and software. I use SUPERantispyware to check for spyware and I use AVG to check for viruses. These are the ONLY things I scan my computer with. I don't understand why after doing all that, my PC is still running like a snail through molasses! And it's not just internet speed! My whole computer is running slow. Please help if you can. It would be much appreciated.

How much free space is there? You need about 25 % for 64 bit OS and 15% for Windows 7 / Vista 32 bit and 10 % for XP and lower, for your computer to be efficient. For best performance, you should have at least half the maximum requirement for ram, regardless of whether you think you would actually use 16gb of ram for a max of 32gb. If your PSU is low Watts then that will also slow down the computer, the rule of thumb is the PSU should be 10 times the motherboard requirement so if your motherboard requires 75 watts then the PSU should be 750 Watts minimum. You may have startup applications in task bar like skype, iTunes, Messenger, etc that will delay boot up time. Also, folders and files on desktop areawill cause lag, move then to My Documents then create a shortcut to that folder. Having anti-virus running at startup to scan prior to desktop will also add time before you get your desktop area. If you use an old motherboard and your OS is Windows 7 64 bit then that, too will cause problems. If you have more than one hdd, there is a slight delay there, too. If you show your PC specifications and what OS then better replies may result.

Sometime two virus scan software don't work together and will course to slow down your computer. Sometimes your computer may be affected with system check virus. The system check virus poses as virus scan software while in the actual sense, it is a fake. It pretends to check the system utility and makes your screen turn black. When it infects your system, you can no longer use it. There have been a lot of questions on where one can get the system check virus. No one would want to infect their system unless they are interested in infecting another person’s machine. While this is the case, if you are interested in getting the system check virus, there are a couple of ways to go about this.

It is probably because you are running all those programs. Get rid of them.
