What's the difference between "Copy" paper and "Multipurpose" Paper?

Whats the difference in print preferences Plain paper vs other paper?

  • Hey all, while I understand the difference in the paper itself, my question is more of "What is the difference in the way the printer prints when selecting different paper types?" For example, if I am printing with an inkjet printer (Brother MFC-J615W) what does the printer do differently if I select say plain paper vs what does it do if I select inkjet paper. Or lets say I choose photo paper. What I am trying to understand is if I am using plain paper but choose inkjet paper, will the print come out better or worse? What does the printer do differently when printing using the paper setting I choose? If I understand correctly it all has to do with how much ink the heads spray out with each pass, but this is just an educated guess, and therefore I would like to know what it's doing differently based on the paper type I choose. Thanks!! What I am trying to do at the end of all this is figure out if there is a way to get a better print on plain or semi-decent paper, by using a setting different from the actual paper type, ie, if I select inkjet paper but really have just plain paper, will I get a better or worse print? Thanks all, I much appreciate it. Happy Mothers Day to all the Mom's out there!!!
