Can duct tape substitute grip tape?

All I have is duct tape for my hula hoop . My mom said no to grip tape because we're broke right now ... So is it alright to use duck tape brand duct tape ? x3

Sure but it's not the best and it's a pain to get off... or make some money yourself and buy some grip tape! =D
