How do you heal a salt ice burn?

Ice and Salt Burn? Help?

  • A friend of mine did the ice and salt challenge (please skip all the omg so stupid why would ya do it) she held it for 2 mins on her palm. The next day it became red and it hurts her. Will this start peeling? Should she move her hand normally or should she band aid it and keep it safe. Also, what other things that could causes of burns look like salt and ice burn? Thank you :)

  • Answer:

The only thing that looks like a salt and ice burn is a burn. She should apply cool moist compresses a couple of times a day. She could use cool milk for the compresses - milk is soothing and healing. She should keep it clean by washing it gently with liquid antibacterial soap and warm water. She could apply a little antibiotic ointment and cover it with a light gauze bandage if necessary.
