Which overnight hiking/camping backpack is better?

Should I get a backpack with a laptop sleeve already built into it or a regular backpack and leave my laptop..?

  • in a separately purchased sleeve? What happened with my old laptop is that my backpack fell off a table on a really hard ground, causing its corner to be dent. I have a new laptop now and I don't know if I should just keep my current backpack but by a laptop sleeve, or buy an entirely new backpack designed with a laptop sleeve... If it makes any difference: My computer is a 13" MacBook Pro My current backpack is an L. L. Bean Super Deluxe My sleeve is from Case Logic I'm thinking about buying a laptop backpack from High Sierra or North Face... I don't really know

MacBooks are very expensive. I would be extra precautions to make sure it is safe especially if you are going to lug it around campus all day in your backpack. I have friends who have Macbooks and put it in a Mac sleeve and then insert it in the laptop compartment. They never had a problem. I own a North Face Backpack....LOVE it (I own the North Face Surge). The friends who have MacBooks that I mentioned above .... one owns a North Face (I think it is either the Recon or Heckler). The other owns a Swiss Gear laptop backpack. The one who owns a North Face Backpack has a Case Logic sleeve. The other one owns a Belkin. Good luck to you! Let me know which backpack you decide on purchasing!

A laptop case small enough just to fit the Mac. This way you can put it in your backpack also or lug around two things on your shoulder. The reason is because when you are carrying a laptop case you take extra precautionsknowing you're carrying expensive gear while with a backpack sometimes you'll just toss it wherever thinking it's only books.

Considering the cost of Macbooks, I'd do both. Put the laptop in a sleeve and then put the sleeve into teh backpack's sleeve. That way you'll have extra protection and will alsi have a removable sleeve in case you want to move it around without the backpack.

Any bag is suitable to laptop can be purchased. But be careful while handling.
