How to transfer contacts to smart phone?

How do you transfer contacts from phone to sim card?

• I have a Samsung Captivate and all of my contacts are currently saved to my phone. In case my phone is ever damaged, I would likely have all of my contacts on my sim card. Is there anyway that I can transfer my contacts onto my sim card straight from the phone? I know when you create a new contact, you have the option to save it to the phone or sim, but I would like to avoid having to re enter all of my contacts. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

  I don't have a Captivate but I've done it on a few phones. The option will be in the menus when you open up your phone contact list and press the 'menu' or 'options' button. Just make sure you take your time, go slow, and read all of the menu options offered clearly. It will pretty definately be there written for you waiting for you to find it. On some phones I've done it on it's not on the first level of lists of options but down at the bottom of the list it'll say "advanced options" or something, which will take you into a 'deeper' list of options. Somewhere, you should see a little option worded something like "copy contacts to sim card" or "export contacts to sim". Press on that and then there'll be a little wait and a little progress bar while the phone does it for you.
