Why does my ps3 take so long to recognize a disc?

  • A little while ago, my 120GB PS3 slim has had trouble reading discs. I put in a disc, any disc, and the icon does not pop up. I listen closely and I hear the disc start to spin then stop, start then stop again. It does this for about two to three minutes then the disc icon eventually pops up and it works fine after that. So I can eventually get things to work but I would prefer not having to wait around after inserting a disc for three minutes to start playing a game or a movie. Any Ideas? Thanks

    It is your disk reader, you probably need a new one put in.
