How much do volunteer firefighters have to work?

Are all firefighters this arrogant and condescending?

  • My mom was telling me about a woman at work who was a volunteer firefighter for a time. She said that this woman was very condescending about all the lives she's saved, with all of her "stories". I have to ask, are all firefighters this arrogant?

Every fire department (like every other job on the planet) has their idiot, or idiots. There are a few here and there who become firefighters for the "glory", not realizing that nobody cares about what they do except for other firefighters. Luckily, they generally don't go far in their careers...

Some people are arrogant, some aren't. I don't think many people know I'm a firefighter unless they ask about it. I don't usually talk about it all that much away from work.
