An economic obstacle to greater use of drip irrigation in the USA?

How to use drip irrigation?

  • I'm thinking of installing a 3/4" pvc pipe down the center of our garden and having it supply water to each plant. My question is ,"can I use this pipe as the supply source for drip irrigation?"

  • Answer:

you can get drip irrigation line that's a lot easier to use than PVC. if you want to run PVC line out to your garden and put a faucet, you could do that and then run 1/2 inch drip line from there. from the 1/2 inch line to each plant you can run a 1/4 inch line with a drip nozzle on the end. you can get nozzles that spray or drip. you can get drip ends to put out either one or two gallons an hour. drip line is very cheap and you can put it in in in a very short time. the only tool you need is a device that pokes a hole on the line to attach your 1/4 inch lines to the plants. as soon as you put the lines in you can use it. you won't have to wait for PVC glue to dry. you can also get a timer to put on the faucet to set the time you want the water on and for how long. their like 29 dollars.
