How Much is the average Reckless driving ticket in NC?

Speeding Ticket, Suspended License, Driving Fathers Car, Couldn't find Driver's Registration, in NC?

  • Basically everything in the title happened, but I wasn't arrested and the car was taken. My biggest concerns is wondering if his insurance will hear about it, or increase incredibly. Will "My" insurance increase? A few months ago my car was in a car accident, which is the main reason why my license was suspended. The thing is, the DMV told me I had until August for me to pay for it to so that it "WOULDN'T" be suspended, but apparently it was suspended a month ago. I'm wondering if my dad's car might be towed without us knowing. I also was thinking if there is a way I can get my license back because the officer took it and gave me a pink slip stating he took it because it was suspended. I was driving about 23 mph over the speed limit trying to get home because of a curfew my father set for me to be home. How much will that speeding ticket cost in NC? If I bring a renewed driver's license and proof of registration to court, will my chances of not spending time in jail be better? Will my chances of getting the fines lowered or possibly of being dismissed? This is my 3rd time in court for a different case. With that being said, will they treat the case more seriously? I'm 19 but don't look a day over 16, will the judge be more sensitive with my case? HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you already know the answers to these questions, but are hoping for better news here. The short answer is that your rates will go up just based on the suspended license, not sure about the laws in your state, but your dad's insurance should not go up unless you were on the policy. If the car was not towed during the stop, it probably won't be. Going 23 MPH over the speed limit is a very serious traffic offense; in some states it can be a crime. What I do see is a complete lack of maturity on your end. Not trying to be offensive, but take a step back and look at yourself: You claim you were doing 23 MPH over the speed limit because of the curfew your father set for you. This isn't true, you were going this fast because YOU failed to plan ahead and were late; not your dad's fault. You state that you car was in an accident a few months ago. Also not true, cars don't get in accidents, people driving them do. If your license was suspended behind the last wreck, you probably were at fault or maybe DWI? If you came to me with this story, and I was the judge, I would throw the book at you, while still giving you room to better yourself. You are on the wrong road kid. If you want a chance in hell when you get to court, see if you can renew your license, get the registration fixed, and confess to the court that you have behaved irresponsibly. After this you can beg for forgiveness and throw yourself at the mercy of the court. If you come into court with a "It's not my fault really" attitude, you will be in trouble. Good luck, and I hope this was a wake up call for you.

It doesn't matter who owns the car, the tickets are issued to the driver. That means your insurance company will be notified if you are convicted. There is a good chance you will get a reduced penalty or some of the tickets dropped if you come in with proof of a valid license and proof of registration.
