Where do I look for Windows Firewall?

Windows firewall won't turn on?

  • Windows firewall won't turn on, there is a button says: "use recommended settings" .. I click but nothing happened, and the mouse point gives the hourglass for a few seconds. I tried turning off my Norton & also turning on from safe mode but still nothing.. Take a look: http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2290/71858268.jpg Any response ?

  • Answer:

That's a typical problem with Windows... If it doesn't let you turn the firewall on, the computer has a virus. My solution would be to install this this http://www.ubuntu.com/

I hate to give one of these answers, but I honestly do not trust the MS firewall .. .In Vista and Win7 It has gotten better, but there are better alternatives out there. Firewall - The two that I would recommend 100% are very easy to configure and use, and which are both free Comodo's Firewall ( http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ ) OR Outpost ( http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost/ ) (ONLY USE ONE..) -------------------------------------- I am not saying "do not try" Linux, though there seem to be a few on here, who say "Use Linux" as an answer to any question. I not only use Linux. I use a few different "distro" 's of Linux. I am just saying switching OS's is not alway the solution. I hope if you want to stick with MS's Firewall, that someone else will give you an exact solution, here on Yahoo Answers. -Xmetalfanx
