Why won't my iPod connect to the network any more?

IPod Touch wont connect to Ad Hoc Network ip 169.xxx problem?

  • iDevice: iPod Touch 3g, iOS 5.1, Jailbroken Ok so i was able to create an Ad Hoc network and connect to it with my ipod just fine, but now when i try to connect to it my ipod shows a stron signal but when i try to go into safari i get a message saying im not connected to the internet. When i touch the blue arrow near the ssid shown on my ipod this is what comes up under DHCP IP Address 169.254.xxx.xxx Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0 and nothing shows up for router or DNS Ive been able to connect before why isnt it workin now? heres a list of solutions ive already tried Erasing network settings on my ipod forgetting the network and restarting PC and Ipod rebooting countless times going to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Internet Sharing center Double clicking my ad hoc connection > Properties Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/iPV4) Properties (made these changes) -use the following IP Address automatically (192.168.x.xxx) -subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (this was provided automatically) -Default gateway 192.xxx -use the following DNS server automatially (prefered DNS server: 192.168...) i typ it all into my ipod whats wrong

    Check the settings in the router. A simple reset could suffice. Unplug the router, wait 5 seconds and plug it back in.

Getting a 169.254.x.y address usually means you did not connect to a DHCP server, and did not get a dynamic IP. Nor do you have a static LAN IP either. That Ip address you get is a default Microsoft one when the network card does not get a DHCP address properly.
