Atheists, How Do You Get Married?
-
The facts: -You aren't for religious marriage -Most of you dislike the government because it promotes Christian morals as opposed to chaos So if you hate religion and the government, then how can you get married without being a hypocrite?
-
Answer:
Why the ignorance? Marriage is and always has been a matter of civil law! Whilst churches are allowed to carry out the service it must be in complete compliance with that law and any deviation or omission would make the marriage null and void and probably involve criminal offenses!

For one, we DON'T hate religion or the government. Marriage doesn't always have to be religious; there are other places to get married besides a church y'know.

Marriage isn't religious, it's a legal act. And I don't hate religion or the government, I hate idiots who are allowed to vote on whatever they want. I hate religious nuts who push their ignorance on the country. Try growing a brain. Edit: I'm not against democracy. I just think people with the I.Q. of mayonaise, like you, shouldn't be allowed to vote. Why should morons be allowed to run the country?

Marriage is a civil ceremony and a legal contract. It is not owned or governed by Christianity or any other religion. And why do you ask this question of atheists and not Jews, Muslims or Hindus? Why do you people think the world revolves around YOUR beliefs?

The government does not promote "Christian" morals. It promotes secular beliefs. I see some tacticianing in your question, and I don't like it.

1. Atheism and anarchism have very little to do with each other. 2. Marriage is a cultural construct. While it does often have ties to religion, it is not a religious construct. Even a church marriage can be considered simply traditional; when an atheist swears before God and man, to him the only important part of that equation is "man," but that does not mean he is any less committed to his oath than a Christian.

"The facts: -You aren't for religious marriage -Most of you dislike the government because it promotes Christian morals as opposed to chaos" Those aren't facts. They're crap you made up. I don't care about religious marriage, because I'm not religious. I don't care if YOU are into "religious marriage" or not -- I'm not against it. I'm against you imposing "religious marriage" on everyone, though. I don't dislike the government, either. I oppose theists who want to violate the constitution by imposing their religious nonsense on everyone -- but that's not "the government." And the opposite of "christian theocracy" is not "chaos." I don't have to "support" anything to get married. I got married on a beach at sunset, by a secular civil authority. All he did was validate our marriage contract, which is a contract between two people (my wife and I). The government uses that contract to do certain things (apply some privileges, impose some requirements), but that's incidental. Stop claiming you know what "atheists are against." You don't. Peace.

Marriage and Christianity are two entirely different concepts. You don't have to get married in a church, Christianity doesn't have to play a part in it at all. In many countries around the world, Christian weddings are rare. What about all the Hindus, Muslims. Jews, Sihks, ect...who get married according to their own religious ceremonies? There's absolutely no logic to the theory that you have to support Christianity to marry,

Well, when I get married to my partner, I will go to a UU church. A religious marriage do not have to include a god. Getting married to prove your love for someone who you want to spend the rest of your life with. Also, I do not hate the government. I just find it ridiculous that people are trying to throw religion into government. Remember separation of church and state? We should spend less time worrying about Mitt Romney being a Mormon, and worrying about what he stands on how he would run our country. BTW, the religion of our president should not be a deciding factor for elections!

You call yourself a Christian and you are also clearly a total c*nt so you really have no right to call other people hypocrites. EDIT: Yes it was rude and I am being deliberately so. I'm not going to resort to logic and reasoned argument since you are clearly a religious fanatic. So calling you a **** was a convenient time saver.
