Do Windows Phones (starting Windows Phone 7) get free updates?

Whenever Apple releases an update for iOS, all iPhone owners can download and install the updated OS for free. Updates for Android phones work in different ways. As an owner of any Android phone you are at the mercy of hardware manufacturer (Samsung, HTC etc) to get Android update. Most Android hardware companies release a few update and most companies don't release updates at all. So, once you buy an Android 2.3 device, even though Google releases next version of Android, most likely you will have be be happy with that as there will be no update from your phone manufacturer probably. My question: Do Windows phone (starting Windows Phone version 7) owners get free OS updates like iPhone owners ?

Yes, all Windows phones to date are updatable to the current version. Whether they will be updatable to Windows phone 8 is yet to be seen but yes so far all updates have been free. Stop trolling "Doru", why shouldn't anyone want Windows phone, its been met with rave reviews.

Why in the world would somebody with even 1 ounce of brain wanna have f+u+c+king Windows on a phone? Android don't really need updates, as it is based on Linux, thus cannot be corrupted/infected.

Windows Service packs are automatically updated for no charge, but it can use up a data plan when it downloads.
