Does anyone know any cheap apartments off of UNF's Campus?

I'm going to live off campus (UCLA) for fall quarter, but don't want to move in until September...?

  • I'm transferring to UCLA from a community college, and I want to live in an off-campus apartment because it's way cheaper. But everyone is telling me that I need to start looking for apartments now because all the good ones will go fast. I don't want to move in until August though because I don't want to pay extra rent over summer - what's the best way to approach this? Should I just wait until late July to look for housing, or should I look for housing now, and then sublet the apartment until September (I don't really know how subleting and leases work, I've never lived on my own before). Any opinions and advice is welcome!! Also, if anyone could tell me the pros and cons of living off campus vs in a dorm/suite, that'd be great :) So far the only pro of living on campus seems to be meeting lots of people, but I plan to join clubs. And I don't mind cooking for myself haha. Please give me your opinions!! Thanks :)

  • Answer:

The only way it would be cheaper to live off campus near UCLA is if you're sharing an apartment with 5 other people. If you're going to find a cheap apartment far away from UCLA, you can look for one anytime. The benefit of living on campus is that you don't have to commute to classes/library/study groups. The benefit of living off campus is that it's cheaper - if your apartment is in Van Nuys.
